Chapter 7 Questions

Part 1.
  1. How did Elie again help his father when they were on the train? Elie tried to wake his father up since the SS officers were going to throw him up since they mistaken him to be dead.
  2. Describe the scene Elie witnessed between the father and son. The father's son laid by him, and his father asked if he still remembers him and tells him he has bread for him too. The old man died, and his son searched him looking for the piece of bread and once he found it, he devoured it.
  3. How many got out of the wagon? Where had they arrived? A dozen of them had got out of the wagon. They arrived at Buchenwald.
  4. Explain how the father/son roles had been reversed in the case of Elie and his father? Elie and his father had been close throughout the whole book either emotionally especially when they were separated.
  5. Imagine being in Elie's position or the fathers position during this chapter, Tell me what you are going through and how would you handle it, feel, react, behave, or be!!! ( 7 sentences)
    If i was in Elie's position i would go through trying to help keep my father keep up with me. i wouldn't want my father to give up. Nor do i want to survive alone, especially when I don't know if my mother or sisters are still alive. I don't want to be the only one in my family to survive.
Part 2.
  1. Describe the setting. It was another cold day. Corpses everywhere. everyone was crowded trying to stay warm.
  2. 2.What do you think Elie meant when he said, “ to die today or tomorrow. What is the difference?” it made no difference whether they died today or tomorrow, because he thinks they're still going to die anyways especially in their conditions.
  3. 3.If his father was to die, do you think elie would have the motivation to live? If his father I don't think theres going to be a reason for Elie to live for he cant live without his father.
  4. 4.What did the people do with the dead bodies? The people threw the dead bodies on the snow so the corpses can be buried beneath the snow.
  5. 5.Describe how life was like in this chapter for them. Give examples. Their life was hard in this chapter. Probably one of the easiest since they didn't have to march. They were mostly in the wagon crowded among the dead and the alive.
  6. 6.What happened when a piece of bread was thrown into a wagon? The Jews would fight for the piece of bread that was thrown into the wagon.
  7. 7.How do the german’s react to the stampede? The Germans didn't react at all at the stampede.
  8. 8.The son that let his father die over a piece of bread, what was he behaving like? Why do you think people were acting this way? The son that let his father die over a piece of bread was so selfish. he acted like a complete monster.
  9. 9.How old is elie now in this chapter? Elie was 15 years old in the chapter.
  10. 10.Being his age and all things that are happening to him, could you relate to his feeling and troubles?
  11. 11.Who was Meir Katz? Describe him. Meir Katz was a friend of his father. He used to work as a gardener at Buna and would occasionally bring them vegetables. He had been put in charge of the wagon, because he was more vigorous.
  12. 12.Who attacked Elie, why? An unknown man attacked Elie.
  13. 13.What was this journey like for all the Jews…describe it. Many Jews died on this journey, due to lack of food and water. The weather also mad a bad impact on the Jews during this journey. Many of them just slept forever.
  14. 14.Where did they arrive to? They arrived at Buchenwald.
  15. 15.Make a prediction about the next chapter, do you think father or Elie will dies? i think on the next chapter they're still going to struggle but not for long. Rescue will be on its way soon. I don't think Elie and father dies in this chapter.
