A Long Way Gone Ch. 13 Vocab Words
  • Inspection- n. the act of inspecting or viewing, esp. carefully or critically
  • Sentence- The airport terminals made a daily inspection after the September 11 attack.
  • Readied- adj. completely prepared or in fit condition for immediate action or use
  • Sentence- My mom readied dinner for Christmas.
  • Capsules- n. a gelatinous case enclosing a dose of medicine.
  • Sentence- I had to take capsules for my migraines.
  • Tormented- v. to afflict with great bodily or mental suffering; pain
  • Sentence- I was usually tormented out of nowhere.
  • Gradually- adj. taking place, changing, moving, etc., by small degrees or little by little
  • Sentence- The car gradually changed lanes.
  • Massacres- n. the unnecessary, indiscriminate killing of a large number of human beings or animals, as in barbarous warfare or persecution or for revenge or plunder
